someone explain to me how warlocks work. how do their spells work.

  • yumiikos

So Warlocks have spell slots of a certain level, and ONLY of that level. So once a Warlock gains level 2 spell slots, they can ONLY cast spells using level 2 spell slots. These slots max out at level 5, level 6-9 is covered through the Mystic Arcanum feature.

wait. so warlocks can only cast up to level 5? and like, what, does that mean only one spell a day?

  • shinnokismybitch

The number of slots you get will increase as you level up, and there are items (such as Rod of the Pact Keeper) that will effectively increase the amount of slots you have. And using Spell Slots, yes, you can only cast up to level 5. But the Mystic Arcanum feature will give you one cast of each of a 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th level spell, without using a Warlock Spell Slot

    4. cometkins said: Warlocks base spell slots go up to lv 5, and then they get ONE spell of 6th, 7th, 8, and 9th level at the appropriate levels. they use separate slots. so a level 20 warlock can cast 5 5th level spells, and then one 6th, one 7th, one 8th, and one 9th.
