You’re wrong. 

So very, very, very wrong.

And you should feel bad about that. 

I’m mostly just kind of confused at how proud they are at thinking heterophobia is a new word but like iidddkk anymore idkkkkk

heterophobia  just  bad as homophobia. being disgusted by anyone just because of their sexual orientation is wrong and shouldn’thappen, on tmblr or elsewhere

wasn’t aware that heterophobia was enshrined and legally protected, and propped up by institutions but yup, same exact thing. 

also for goodness sake, when most lgb people express distrust of straight people it is because they’re worried about their own safety, not because they think straight people are going to hell or recruiters out to corrupt children. 

but yeah: totally just as bad.

As a straight person …

I have never been bullied for being straight.

I never had to worry about coming out to my parents as straight, because it’s what they expected.

I never had to worry about my friends, coworkers, bosses, or anyone else finding out that I’m straight, because it’s what they expected.

There is not a large number of people who want to take away my right to get married. 

So I don’t see how “heterophobia” is “just as bad”.

It’s not “just as bad” and it’s not fucking real. Cishets need to get the fuck over themselves

Okayyyyy there needs to be some things explained here sweethearts. 

First off, just because you have not experienced something does not mean it doesn’t exist. (TRIGGER WARNINGS)

I have never been raped but I know that as sickening as it is, it DOES happen. Want some facts and figures on people being douches? Then look below after these next couple of paragraphs or so.

Second, yes I understand you are angry as all hell and you deserve every right to vent just as much (if not a bit more) than everyone else in this world. 

Third, I also understand that you feel scared of straight people because you fear that you will be harmed or hurt or even killed. It is understandable to feel that way and I know you have to be guarded for your safety. And I will do everything I am able to do to help make sure you feel safe and that you know that you are valid and matter. I know what it feels like to be scared and to feel invalid and that you don’t matter. Not in the exact same way but similar enough. 

Now, when many people from the MOGAI/LGBTQIA+ community on tumblr talk about straight people and/or cis people, many often do it in an offensive way. I’ve read posts that talked about killing off cishets and how they are scum and what have you.

Some examples I found from a simple google search that led me back to tumblr:

Many blogs have talked about it and some are dedicated to it. Here is what a quick google search found me: 

About 55,600 results.

Now, a google search for hating the LGBTQIA+/MOGAI community brought up many many results ( About 2,020,000 results). Most of those are people complaining (justly so) about hate they get for being who they are. 

More often than not I have seen generalizations about cishets that make it sound like ALL of them are bad which to me, seems to sound a lot like what homophobic transphobic assholes say. 

Oh and here are some lovely (hint the sarcasm) messages someone got on tumblr (yes I am aware these could have been fabricated but knowing this site it most likely wasn’t):

Now, while homophobia and transphobia are ingrained into society, and I have yet to hear of a case where a cishet was murdered for being a cishet (and even if there was one it wouldn’t compare to the number of people murdered for being part of the LGBTQIA+/MOGAI community), I know that people who are cishets have been murdered for other things. 

Among some of these are:

-Being a witch: The burning times and the Salem witch trials are just two examples of this. Yes, not all of them were witches BUT they were killed for the mere thought that they COULD BE a witch. And not everyone today is safe if they are a witch: some places you are still killed and in others you are harassed and made fun of. Some people are even spit on and told that being a witch is “just a phase” (sound familiar?)

-For having different religions than others: Not just pagans, but Christians have been persecuted, Muslims have been persecuted and people of the Jewish faith have been persecuted (those of the Jewish faith-if I am using the incorrect words please notify me so I can correct it<3 -probably have most everyone else beat when it comes to persecution) simply for what or more commonly WHO they believe in (or don’t). I’m sure atheists have been killed for being atheists. (And according to a poll they are the most distrusted group in at least the U.S. , which as my boyfriend so eloquently put it: “is saying something.”) And this STILL happens to this day. (And if you are looking for historical persecution of people of the Abrahamic faiths then look it up because there were Inquisitions against Protestants and the entire medieval history of GREAT BRITAIN!!!!)

-For their race and/or ethnicity: Do I really need to explain this one?

-For their mental and/or physical health: Jewish people, Romani people, and LGBTQIA+/MOGAI people were not the ONLY victims of the Holocaust. People with mental and physical disabilities were also thrown into the camps. And one search on the history of treating psychiatric illness will tell you that we have been persecuted: in mental hospitals people were often tied up, beaten, tested on, and locked up IN SOLITARY CONFINEMENT!!! Oh and this only stopped relatively recently. Letchworth Village closed in 1996!!!!!!

Here is a picture of some of the patients: warning this is pretty sad and looking up this “mental hospital” will only make you want to cry and/or punch a wall.

Oh and guess what: IT STILL HAPPENS TODAY!!!!! And guess what: We may have LAWS for us saying our rights BUT PEOPLE DON’T ALWAYS FOLLOW THEM. Physical disabilities are more often than not accepted than Psychiatric disabilities. I know that from experience. 

Wanna know something: we experience trauma too and not just when people have heard we have an illness. NO. I was left in a fucking dimly lit room when I was 8 MOTHERFUCKING YEARS OLD because I had trouble finishing math. My two biggest fears at the time were of being in the dark and being alone. It fucked me up. Not as bad as some other things others have experienced but still. It sucks. 

But no, let’s ignore these and all others because CLEARLY gay people are the ONLY ones killed and/or harmed for being who they are! /sarcasm/

Do not every say that you are for the rights of POC, people of differing Religions, Witches, or the Disabled when you say that all cishets are evil and stuff when you fail to realize that SOME OF THEM BELONG TO THESE FUCKING GROUPS!!!!

Now that I have (hopefully) proved this to you let us turn back to what I originally set out to tell you about: 

People who are cishet do get shit on here. People them to kill themselves. Sure, not as bad as what the LGBTQIA+/MOGAI community has gone through but just because they are cishet doesn’t mean they do not belong to any of these other groups and therefore are not in danger or whatever. 

Ergo: Tumblr has double standards and I have been holding this shit in for a year or so now. I am sick and tired of people forgetting that people with privilege can be abused and may not be privileged in other areas (i.e.: being white, lesbian, heteromantic, and disabled, etc.) 

And before you say anything: I am questioning my sexual and romantic orientations. I am disabled, a witch, and a cis woman.
