also, “gangsters dont cry” and “i wasnt raised in the hood but i know a thing or two abt pain and darkness etc.” is not something i want to hear as a poc and im not here for it at all
You know what pisses me off about this post is the amount of people blatantly ignoring the point because they want to coddle Twenty One Pilots ignorance because they don’t want to think they could like something racist.
The “hood” was literally made for poc to fucking live in because whites didn’t want us in their neighborhood or doing well for ourselves. “Gangsters” is literally used a synonym for a poc in the media to fucking demonize them so like hell fucking yes me a black women is going to feel uncomfortable about Tyler Joseph fucking saying that when he grew up in small suburbia with no fucking clue what it’s actually like to not grow up in a good neighborhood or see yourself criminalizes by the media. This isn’t a matter of opinion what he’s done is fucking racist and either you’re willing to acknowledge and call him out on it or you’re willing to coddle the ignorance and be an enabler. There’s no middle ground in this discussion.
